Reading Through the Bible in a Year!

  1. WOW!
Stephen was so full of zeal to preach the Word of God. He didn't care who his audience was, he was determined to tell them about God.
I love verse 51, “You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.” (ESV) Stephen was not only full of zeal for God, grace, and power, but he was also full of guts and boldness! He was ready to put the High Priest and council in their rightful place, telling them how they have done God and His people wrong!
Of course, this led to his death. But he died knowing that he stood up for God and that he was going to be by His side in Heaven. While looking up at Jesus standing at the right hand of God, Stephen says “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” While being stoned to death, he then cries out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” (Verses 55-60)
Wow! I definitely have the bold tongue and I try to always stand up for the Lord, but to forgive those who persecute you, those who kill you. Wow!
Lord please help me to be more like Stephen, full of zeal, grace, and power for You and Your Word. But also forgiving freely, not even holding grudges against those persecutors.
