  1. Isaiah 14:12–14 (NKJV)
“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! 13 For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’

I think it so interesting that the fall of Lucifer and the fall of man are such reflections of each other. Both fell as a result of pride, wanting to be as God. They both had been blessed in the the creation plan: Lucifer, meaning "Day Star" was the chief of the angelic beings; and man, created in the image of God, was the highest of God's created beings. Yet, neither was satisfied in their created state. Lucifer was not satisfied to be the chief of God's ministering spirits. He wanted to be God. Man was not content with being in the image of God. He wanted to be God. Both hearts were lifted up as both were consumed with pride. Things have not changed since the fall. The chief and root of all sin is still pride which reveals itself in selfishness and discontentment. None of us are exempt from pride's deception and destruction. It felled the highest of angels and the first man while still innocent. We must all guard our hearts against the intruder. Let us be satisfied exalting God which is our purpose rather than exalting ourselves which is our fall.
