  1. Unworthy, but Chosen

Song of Solomon 1:6 He brought me into his banqueting house, and his banner of me was love. ESV

The Song of Solomon is a beautiful love story of a mighty prince fell in love with a most unlikely vinedresser. The beloved was not the woman who would be chosen for the prince by others. She was not from one of the distinguished families of the kingdom nor taught in the finest schools. She had not been groomed in proper social etiquette. Instead, she had been raised in the country tending the vineyards and working the ground with her brothers. She was not fair in complexion as the proper ladies of her day, but her skin was sun darkened due to her days in the field. Despite her background and circumstances the prince loved her. Others many have blushed and wondered in amazement at the prince’s choice, but not the prince. Instead, he wanted to show her off and he brought her to the banquet house for all to see and the banner flown over her head was the inscription “love.” Surely, his beloved, this farmer girl, was overwhelmed by the grace upon her by being chosen by the prince and being the guest of honor at his banquet. Even so we, if we have been chosen by the Prince of Peace, should be overwhelmed by the grace bestowed upon. We were unworthy, yet chosen and brought to His banqueting table.
